True Greatness The Way God Wants

by Regina
(USA)

Another reason the Eternal Father, God, choose Mary to be the Mother of Jesus, His Son and Our Savior, was because she did not think of herself as great. She did not think much of herself, for she was very humble. She was not haughty nor did she think of herself as better than others. She did not seek praise nor the esteem of men.

Mary spent her time in prayer and meditation. She was praying and meditating when Gabriel appeared to her. Most of mankind is always seeking honours and induging in the pleasures of the flesh as well as the material pleasures of the world instead of seeking spiritual things. But Mary however, did not live her life this way. For this reason, she was just the right one to be the mother of Jesus Our Lord.

In this mystery we must learn not to be haughty and try not to be obsessed with the pleasures of the flesh. For in God's eyes true greatness is when we do not think much of ourselves. True greatness in the eyes of the world is not true greatness in the eyes of God. We should not be like the world but be more like Mary. Humble yourself in all things and thou shalt find grace in the eyes of God. Learn chastity and dwell on spiritual things. And above all do not seek the pleasures of the flesh.

Fourth Rosary Promise
The rosary will make virtue and good works flourish, and will obtain for souls the most abundant divine mercies. It will draw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
