Physical sensations while praying The Rosary

by Nelia
(Lisbon, Portugal)

I pray The Rosary daily, usually by myself. When I do it, I feel cold chills and sometimes an itchy sensation in my head, arms and back. What does it mean?

Sensations on my forehead
by: Anonymous

I have recently come out of a very dark time in my life. I was living this life in the deep sin of sexual immorality. I started praying the rosary and during my prayer sessions I have had sensations on my forehead and heavy sweating and the feeling of becoming very sleepy. What could this be?

Be Careful Trying to Interpret Physical Sensations
by: The Rosary Team

It is best to assume it means nothing. There is real danger in finding pleasure in physical sensations as though they are a sign from God. If time goes on and these sensations cease, your praying must not cease. The virtues of faith and hope necessarily require a belief in things unseen and unfelt. Hope requires a desire for heaven without any tangible assurances.

Ignore these sensations or accept that they may come and go and cannot be interpreted.

Fourth Rosary Promise
The rosary will make virtue and good works flourish, and will obtain for souls the most abundant divine mercies. It will draw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
