Blessed Rosaries Are A Sacramental Not A Good Luck Charm
by: The Rosary Team

Well, I have put off answering this question because it is so dissappointing that there is this sort of superstition surrounding a sacramental such as a rosary.

No, there is no bad luck associated with the Rosary or any other Catholic sacramental whatsoever.

Don't wear your Rosary, PRAY IT!

Okay, enough patronizing. I am sympathetic to your question and I thank you for asking it. It is really important to understand what the Rosary is all about. You will learn much by reading the information provided on this site.

The most important thing to understand is that a set of rosary beads is just a set of beads until a priest blesses them. Catholic priests bless things to make them sacramentals. "Sacramentals are holy things or actions of which the Church makes use to obtain for us from God, through her intercession, spiritual and temporal favors." (Baltimore Catechism Lesson 36)

Spiritual and temporal favors are not the same thing as good luck. This simply means that when you devoutly pray the Rosary and treat a set of rosary beads reverently, God will send you graces for your spiritual well being and even your physical well being if that is what is best for you.

No good luck or bad luck involved.

Fourth Rosary Promise
The rosary will make virtue and good works flourish, and will obtain for souls the most abundant divine mercies. It will draw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
