I have this very dear friend that is 18 she got raped several months ago and just found out she is pregnant from when she got raped. Please pray that she can made the right decision. And be able to over come this horrible ordeal.

Adoption is an expression of love

Adoption is a precious expression of love and caring for the innocent child within the womb of your young friend.

This must be a very painful time for this young woman - to have suffered the violence of rape, and to now wonder if the child within her will be a constant reminder.

Please encourage her to see the pregnancy to delivery and allow the child to be adopted.

My wife and I adopted a baby whose birth mother was pregnant as the result of a rape. We have always had so much respect and gratitude for the young woman who was courageous and chose to give birth to him.

While we have not shared the circumstances of the pregnancy with him or others he knows the woman who bore him made a sacrifice to do so.

His birth-mother requested that the adoptive parents be Catholic and live in a different state, and that the adoption be a 'closed' adoption. Her identity and ours were not shared. Protecting her privacy may have helped her to move forward with her life, without looking back.

Her sacrifice allowed a child of God to live and be born. Our son is now a young adult, full of life, and madly in love with his girlfriend, whom he will likely marry.

He has been a great joy to us and is the love of our lives.

I will pray for her and her baby.
