Is there a difference when praying the rosary with a bracelet or necklace rosary? I would like to know because the necklace is longer than the bracelet.

The Rosary Is A Tool
by: Anonymous

Actually, it makes no difference in which "style" you use. There are some who use a decade rosary (like the Irish Penal Rosary), which has usually the 10 Hail Mary beads, an Our Father bead and sometimes the 3 Hail Mary intention beads and an announcement bead. Some use the rosary "ring". The smaller string is actually safer than a full rosary in some situations, especially when driving. When a set of beads is not available, then the fingers themselves can be used. The original method was to use 150 pebbles. The beads are just more convenient. The same prayers are prayed, in any case.

Using a regular rosary is the common method today, but one must remember it is just a tool for counting the prayers. One should try to think of the rosary as a tool, and not so much in terms of being a piece of jewelry. Today, there is some confusion as to the wearing the rosary as such. It is the intention that matters.

As it is an object of devotion and a sacramental, one must respect it and preserve it from becoming a vanity item. I see this sometimes happen in younger people, which is normal, and some gang members use it as a status symbol to other gang members. To avoid any improper misuse, the rosary should be worn on the belt, as by doing so is an outward sign of one's faith to others, which will in turn, hopefully engender questions from others by which we should be prepared properly to answer (or sometimes defend) correctly when we encounter them.

Fourth Rosary Promise
The rosary will make virtue and good works flourish, and will obtain for souls the most abundant divine mercies. It will draw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
