Caregiver Needs Two Rosaries

by WC Cinnamon
(USA)

I would like to learn to make rosary beads and send them back....to you to help others. I am at home and do not work because my husband is disabeled and needs me at home. I would like one for myself and him but I would like very much to return the good will by being able to make them and send them to who can get them where they are needed the most. Thank you for your time and attention.

Ideas For Your Rosary Making Endeavor
by: Jerald Archer

Dear Wendy,

I have found that it can become expensive to make rosaries, depending on the materials used, but at the sites below, one can find some very good kits here for a reasonable price, and great for starters.

There is also the famous corded rosary which is quite easy and presents very fine, durable rosaries:

I also make chaplet beads of one decade (Irish penal rosaries) which are better for driving, as there is less chance of the beads becoming tangled at some point. I personally like to string beads in a very simple way (larger Our Father beads and smaller Hail Mary beads, without centerpiece, and in a smaller size than usual) as I suffer from arthritis. There is a limited number of knots to be made this way, and the rosary is more traditional and open to many possible styles in bead colour/styles. I tend to stick to non-metal rosaries overall to keep costs down. The upside to non-metal is that they can be used in the hospital easier.

I find that some ready made rosaries are often even too expensive, even when they are the very lowest in price or in bulk.

There is just something that is more special about rosaries that are made by one and given to another. Our Lady is just as pleased to have prayers prayed with a million dollar rosary as She is with a simple length of knotted cord--it is the thought of the action that counts. Remember, to have your priest bless all of your creations and remember that materials can make a difference in some practical ways - sometimes a certain individual needs a non-metallic rosary for medical reasons or for use in hospital tests where the comfort of a rosary is desired by the patient, but the equipment cannot have metal present. Military personnel should always carry a darker colour and safety for children is another consideration.

You might also consider making scapulars, as well, as the scapular and the rosary are the greatest tools Our Lady wants us to use to fight the enemy in the world. There is a great increase today of Catholics who are wearing the scapular once again, God be praised!

God Bless you in your labour of love.

To Jesus, through Mary!

Fourth Rosary Promise
The rosary will make virtue and good works flourish, and will obtain for souls the most abundant divine mercies. It will draw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
