Can Protestants Pray the Rosary?

by Cynthia
(Stokesdale, NC)

Is it wrong for a Protestant to want to learn to pray the Rosary? And, if it is ok, then where could I go to learn how to do it correctly for my own private prayer and meditation? I am a Protestant minister, but I am looking for a more disciplined way to pray and meditate. My husband of 35 years died two years ago. We were in ministry as a couple, but for the last two years I have felt rather adrift and disoriented in my spiritual life and ministry. The prayers of the Rosary speak to me, just wondering if it is wrong for me to pray them.

You Can Pray the Rosary
by: Anonymous

If you study The Visions of the Children (of Medjugorje), where Mary has been appearing for many years, she calls herself the Mother of all, Catholics or non-Catholics. She helps bring us to Jesus. The rosary is a meditation on the life of Jesus. All parts of the rosary are in Holy Scripture.

Protestants praying the Rosary
by: Anonymous

Yes, of course, Protestants may pray the Rosary! It is one of the most beautiful and biblical ways to pray and meditate on the life and teachings of our Saviour. In fact, it surprises me somewhat that more sola scripture adherents generally don't pray it. I can understand they may have difficulties with the last 2 of the Glorious Mysteries - the Assumption and Coronation of Our Lady - as these impart Catholic Doctrine, but for the rest of the Mysteries and prayers, they're entirely biblical. I sincerely hope you will avail yourself of Our Lady's gift to us believers, and find the peace, hope and solace the prayers and meditation will assuredly bring you. By God's good grace, through Mary to Jesus!

Fourth Rosary Promise
The rosary will make virtue and good works flourish, and will obtain for souls the most abundant divine mercies. It will draw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
