Anglicans Pray The Catholic Rosary

by John Tobin
(Australia)

I, as a Catholic have and use a set of rosary beads that I obtained from an Anglican parish church. They have been blessed by both an Anglican priest and a Catholic priest. Many Anglicans pray the rosary.

Anglican-Roman ecumenism
by: Louis

I am a Roman Catholic who was an Episcopalian Franciscan TOR Associate for several years. (My reason for not being involved presently is personal). No matter, I often attend both Episcopal rites as well as Catholic masses. Part of my personal ecumenical mission is to bridge both churches through my involvement with, and support of, both catholic churches.

Wonders Never Cease!
by: Tina

Hello John,

Thank you for such a beautiful story. This is true ecumenism. Great love and friendship between a Catholic priest and an Anglican priest, their love for our Blessed Mother and Her Rosary and their apparent love for you too that they both blessed your Rosary.

The anonymous commentator was probably thinking about the centuries when Catholics were persecuted by the Anglicans. They were drawn(stretched and pulled in different directions), hanged upside down and their tummies cut open so their intestines fellout, and then beheaded. It was quite horrific.

However, there were many who always kept to the teachings of the Catholic Church. So they were not considered to be heretics like Martin Luther and Calvin, etc. These left the Catholic Church because they could not agree on some very important teachings of our Church. In fact King Henry VIII of England wrote and defended the Cathoilc Church. So the Pope gave him the title Defender of the Faith. King Henry then wanted to divorce his wife and the Pope refused this. King Henry then decided that he would be the head of the church in England, be independant of the Pope and do what he wanted to do.

Very recently a great number of Anglican priests and lay people have expressed their desire to enter the Catholic Church and Pope Benedict has accepted them. So apparently the Rosary is very powerful. This is true ecumenism.

IPRAY YOU HAVE AN IMPORTANT PART IN THIS, as it is strongly believed that even the Muslims will enter the Church at some future date, and it will be Our Lady of Fatima and all our Rosaries offered for this intention.

Anglican and Catholic Priest?
by: Anonymous

Being a Catholic myself I have never heard a Catholic and an Anglican praying together. I mean aren't they completely different. It just doesn't make any sense, can you please fill me in.

Fourth Rosary Promise
The rosary will make virtue and good works flourish, and will obtain for souls the most abundant divine mercies. It will draw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
